“For months, Greece has sat at the epicenter of an economic crisis that is threatening the foundations of Europe and that has the potential to bring new waves of economic upset to America. The latest austerity plan meant to satisfy Greece’s creditors and allow for new infusions of financial aid may have averted involuntary default — and a global economic downturn — but will nonetheless make life for ordinary Greeks even more difficult. The plan reduces the minimum wage by more than 20 percent, mandates thousands of layoffs and reduces some pensions, probably ensuring that strikes and demonstrations will continue to be a feature of the Greek landscape.”

The New York Times: The Way Greeks Live Now
Hey guys, wasn’t Jennifer Hudson’s tribute to Whitney Houston the main piece on the front page of The Washington Post today? Hey guys, remember the European economic crisis? Did you know Athens is going up in flames because they’re like, bankrupt or something? No? Neither did I. That’s the knowledge my university education in America has provided me with. Y’know, like, the education I’m in debt because of? But oh my God guys, it looks like there could be “waves of economic upset to America”. I get waves of upset too guys, when my boy doesn’t like, text me back. But America’s in danger guys, so I guess now we should pay attention to a crisis years in the making. You guys are the cutest. XOXO
